Unicorn Booty launched Thursday, touting itself as “the first – and only – daily contest site for the LGBT community.” Every day the website gives away a new product to one lucky winner (the product on the website’s launch day was a brand new iPad).
Companies can pick a day on the website’s calendar and have their product be the giveaway for that day. The first day’s sponsorship cost only $33, but that amount increases by $3 per day everyday. It looks like only the first two weeks are booked, so if you’re a marketer wanting to target the gay community with your product, you better act fast!
The idea was hatched by Kevin Farrell and Nick Vivion of Seattle after seeing similar concepts that weren’t focused on any niche segment. The website appears to be a win-win for consumers and advertisers alike, assuming it takes off. What’s more, the site contributes 10% of net proceeds to non-profits focusing on GLBT issues. Best of luck Unicorn Booty!
